New to this planning thing and need some inspiration? Looking for fresh ways to make the most of your planning system? Keep reading for other ways to utilize your planner, besides using it as just a calendar.

It’s my dream-catcher, so to speak.

Different Functions Your Planner can Serve:

Tracker — use to track your daily tasks, goals, habits.

Journal — use as a daily journal, memory-keeper, a place to jot random thoughts, etc.

Sketchbook — Use as a place to sketch out thumbnail ideas. Get them out on paper before you lose them. Great for designers and artists, or anyone who also works digitally. Sketching things out in your planner helps you retain the ideas and can also be a quicker way to test ideas than designing them digitally.

Note-taking — Use for meetings, phone calls, conferences, online courses, anything you want to take notes on to reference at a later time.

Break it Down by Category:

Work — use your planner for tasks, meetings, deadlines, notes, anything work related.

Personal — appointments, goals, habits, health, fitness, nutrition, etc.

Finance — keep track of your bills, expenses, savings, anything finance related.

Reference — use as a place to store reference information like passwords, health contacts, medical info, last time your home or car receieved maintenance, etc.

Home — keep track of home tasks, such as cleaning, inventory, maintenance, home upgrades, etc.

Projects — The typical definition of a project is something that will take more than 2 steps to complete. Keep track of all parts of the process for your home, personal, or work projects.

Content Creation — Are you a content creator? Use your planner to jot down ideas, plan reels and frames, keep track of content that performs well, track your social media stats, record PR content and make a calendar for scheduling posts.

Goals — keep track of your goals. Set goals that you want to achieve for the month or year. Break them down into steps and track your progress. Record the date that you accomplish your goal, so you will have it to reference later.

Summary

The options are endless, but hopefully, you have some ideas for ways to better utilize your planner system. Keep in mind that your planner is meant to serve you. It can be used for whatever you need it to be at the time. You can change it up at any point to fit your current lifestyle and current needs.

I like to think if my planner as a written record of all the work I have put it, so that when I finally achieve the goals and dreams I’m working toward, I can look back and say all the work was more than worth it. It’s my dream-catcher, so to speak.
