I recently added a journaling / personal reflection section in my planner. Here is a brief overview of how I am using it.
This is my section cover dashboard, available in my Etsy store, PrintsbyKaitlyn. It is currently only available in A5, but I do have plans to list this in Personal very soon. Message me on Etsy if you would like a custom size, and I will make this available to you!
I have been listening to several podcasts that talk about the importance of mindset and how it can either limit us or free us in every aspect of our lives. Our daily thoughts hold so much power over us. What we are constantly thinking about is what we will ultimately create more of. If we focus only on the negative, we will create more of that. As someone who is constantly in my own head, I realize how important mindset is. Being very introspective also makes it more difficult to escape from and change my thought patterns. I have been working on revealing what my core beliefs are about myself and every other aspect of my life, and then working to reframe those beliefs. For example, I have been trying to retrain the way I think about eating healthier and working out. Instead of feeling like I am depriving myself, I have been trying to eat slower, enjoy my food more, and remind myself that the healthier food choice will lead to better health long-term. I have also been viewing my workouts and MY time to clear my head and do something for myself that makes me feel better and decreases my stress. Writing down affirmations has also been extremely helpful for me to start reframing the way I view all aspects of life. A couple of podcasts I have been listening to are Style Your Mind and Goddess Talk. Both these podcasts are amazing resources for mindset and overall well-being.
I am not someone who routinely journals, but having a place in my planner to just scribble out how I’m feeling or what I’m thinking really helps me analyze the situation. It also helps for me to put things into perspective. I can just jot down my thoughts and then rip it out and trash it. I have to internally process things before I can vocalize how I feel about them. Writing things down makes me feel lighter and prevents me from harboring negative feelings for too long. It also helps to have a place to just jot down and sketch ideas. I like to try and capture these ideas before I get busy with something else and the thought gets replaced.
I have also been keeping a gratitude log in my journaling section. It has helped my overall outlook on the day or week to take a minute and write down something I am grateful for. It could be an event from that day, a person, or maybe something small that brought me joy. I love reading back through this list if I am having a bad day. It really does help my mood and helps shift my mind into a more positive place.
Here is an August calendar wallpaper download for you! Mobile and desktop versions are included.
